Today my daughter and I participated in a march with thousands of other women.
I do not want my daughter growing up in a society plagued by “isms.” I believe in equal rights for all people. I believe in separation of church and state. And I believe in federally mandated laws that protect civil rights.
My daughter deserves to grow up in a society where women are respected, have the right to make decisions about their body, and are given fair wages. She deserves to grow up in a society where boys are raised to treat women with respect instead of as objects.
So, despite my mother’s disapproval, my daughter and I marched this morning to show our support for what we believe.
